Episode 3

This week, we began to finalize our floorplans by finessing the layout and relationships of how our program would interrelate within the building, as well as the structural systems we would need to support this.

We also began developing our exterior surface typology which was meant to function as both a major design feature and a solar shading system. This addressed both the physical appearance of the structure as well as its performative characteristics. Our goal with the project was to achieve net zero energy use (using such a small quantity of energy that it could be generated by the building itself, and thus function 100% off grid).

We also checked in with some of the other teams working on the project, to see how they’re handling the process. Hope you enjoy new members of the show (stay tuned for more members of the cast*).
